Wait a minute, I thought to myself, as I looked at the front facade of the Odd Fellows Hall on Lindell Boulevard, there’s something suspicious about that building.
As I suspected, as many buildings in the Grand Center and nearby Central West End, this is the former residence of a prominent St. Louisan, Theophile Papin, and it was altered later to serve as the offices of a non-profit. It now appears on the verge of being demolished for a new seven story apartment building. Sorry about the fog!
Theophile Papin Residence. 3765 Lindell Boulevard. Missouri History Museum, St. Louis. N34071.
There used to be hundreds of houses in the vicinity, such as the one still standing just to the west of the Odd Fellows Building. I wrote about the house to the east of the Odd Fellows at St. Louis Magazine, which you can read about here.
